Happy Sunday!

First of all, thank-you for your patience regarding the late submission of the blog last week. I was having some technical issues at home. I appreciate your understanding.

We have had many students out sick this week (including myself). Please be sure to keep your child home if he or she has a temp. Also sometimes it is not a bad idea to have them stay home and rest if they are complaining of not feeling well or are showing signs of lethargy. It is hard to learn when you are not feeling your best. If your child is out please be sure to fill out an absence form.

Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the cold weather because we go to the playground each day. We are asking all parents to help their child take off their coat, hat, scarf and gloves in the hallway BEFORE entering the room. Please put all items (hat, scarf, mittens) inside the coat sleeve. There is a chart in the hall to help you through this process. Unfortunately, there is very little room in the entryway of the classroom and it would be a much smoother transition if the student could simply come in and hang up his or her coat upon entry. Please assist your child in this process daily.

We are exciting about our upcoming field trip to see Llama Llama! We will be collecting field trip money until November 10th. Please be sure to have the permission slip and field trip money turned in before that date.

This week we will be continuing to learn about pumpkins. We will be carving pumpkins on Thursday and creating a pumpkin report. We will be eating pumpkin pie as a tie in to our favorite pumpkin book Big Pumpkin. Please let me know if you do not want your child to eat a mini pumpkin pie before Wednesday. We will be reading our favorite pumpkin books Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman, It’s Pumpkin Time by Zoë Hall, The Little Old Lady Who was not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams and a new spooky one called Go Away Big Green Monster by Ed Emberly.

Administration has decided that there will be no Halloween parties on October 31st. Please DO NOT send your child in a costume on Thursday and do not send in treats. This is a strict policy and I would appreciate your assistance in making sure it is followed.

Please remember to follow the entrance and exit policies. We are simply trying to keep your child safe at school. We would not want a stranger getting into the building because someone forgot to shut a door or let a stranger in by accident.

Have a great week!
